Why Give?

As a non-profit, community-based, human service agency, our ability to offer assistance and support where it is most needed depends on the kindness and generosity of others, along with state and government funding. We are in a 'cash-crunch' climate where grant and donor dollars are very competitive and much more difficult to secure. We NEED YOU, the individuals, churches, businesses, corporations, and foundations; anyone who has the desire and ability to be a part of the solution.

No one should be underprivileged or underserved in the United States, yet local children dodge gang and drug activity daily while in route to school. Teen mothers have few choices but to drop out of school to care for their babies. Abused and neglected children need safe homes. Parents need affordable childcare so they can work. Some youth need a 2nd chance to earn a diploma after dropping out of school. Youth released after incarceration need jobs and resources so they won't return to a life of crime. The list of needs is long and complicated. Our communities need a variety of professional services that don't require a long, expensive bus ride and several transfers, with children in tow. Serving the community since 1979, Westside Holistic Family Services' operates a "One-Stop-Shop" building with 13 various health and human service providers along 7 programs and services in one convenient location.

We are asking you be a partner with us to continue helping individuals and families realize their dreams of leading more self-sufficient and productive lives? Your monetary donations, in-kind support and/or volunteerism can do so much:

• Head Start program needs (holiday food basket stuffers / food drive volunteers, class readers, classroom aides, playground equipment donations, etc.)
• Teen Reach Afterschool needs (mentors, life skills speakers, school supplies, tutors, computers, educational software, table games, etc.)
• Family Case Management / Teen Parent Services needs (layettes, baby clothes, cribs, blankets, etc.)
• Foster Care needs (children’s clothes, shoes, school supplies, small suitcases, toys, etc.)
• Westside Alternative High School needs (Motivational speakers, tutors, mentors, computers, color printer, office furniture, etc.)
• Westside Holistic Family Service Center needs (maintenance and upgrades to the building and grounds, operational support.)

Our dreams for the future include being able to one day, move our Westside Alternative High School into its own, brand-new facility; and soon, to build an improved covered playground for our Head Start children. Every dollar, item and volunteer time that is donated is significant and tax-deductible. You will receive a thank-you receipt and be included on our mailing list for upcoming events and program updates.
