Westside Alternative High School - provides an alternative
academic curriculum for high school dropouts or those expelled from the public school
system. Approved and accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education and the
North Central Association on Accreditation, this program helps youth receive their
high school diploma or GED and offers specialized counseling for behavioral issues.
The school is part of the Alternative School Network and Youth Connection Charter
Schools.
Head Start - delivers two ½ day sessions of an early
childhood and educational program for qualifying children ages 2 ½ to 5 from
low-income families. This comprehensive program promotes school readiness, provides computer learning, nutritious
meals and snacks, access to free medical and dental services, and field trips and outings.
Parents are encouraged to participate in caseworker resources to educational and training
programs; fostering parent involvement in ways that are responsive and appropriate to
each family's developmental and cultural experience to give children the support
they need to succeed in school and beyond.
